San Gabriel Mission Playhouse – Home of the San Gabriel Valley Symphony
Constructed in 1927 to house John Steven McGroarty’s epic Mission Play—a dramatization of California’s mission history—the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse is a stunning Spanish-style theater with deep historical roots. It is located in San Gabriel, widely recognized as the birthplace of Los Angeles. In 1781, settlers departed from Mission San Gabriel Arcángel to establish El Pueblo de Los Ángeles, laying the foundation for what would become one of the world’s great cities.

To ensure a smooth experience, it's advisable to arrive at least 60 minutes before your event. This allows ample time for parking, locating your seat, and exploring the historic venue. Latecomers will be seated during an appropriate pause in the performance, at the discretion of the house staff.
