
Genesis Staple is an emerging vocalist from Austin, Texas whose artistry spans pop, jazz, musical theatre, and opera. A versatile and expressive performer, she brings a genre-fluid approach to singing while maintaining a deep commitment to musical storytelling and emotional authenticity.
Genesis studied Vocal Performance at The University of Texas at Austin, where she developed a strong foundation in both classical and contemporary vocal traditions. She has appeared on international stages through the UT Jazz Orchestra Japan Tour, performing in Osaka, Shinjuku, and Tokyo, and has performed at prestigious venues including Lincoln Center.
Her performance credits include appearances at the Maryland Jazz Festival and collaborations with the UT Austin Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Diego Rivera. Genesis has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Branford Marsalis, Etienne Charles, and Carmen Bradford, and has studied with distinguished mentors including Donnie Ray Albert, Leah Crocetti, and Carmen Bradford.
Genesis is a finalist for American Pops: Voices of Tomorrow and is deeply passionate about amplifying and expanding representation of Black women’s voices in the music industry. Through her work, she seeks to honor tradition while helping shape a more inclusive and expansive future for vocal music.
