Nic Lampert began playing viola in seventh grade and quickly found his passion for music. After receiving the National Orchestra Award in high school, he studied with Diane Gilbert and participated in Idyllwild Arts ChamberFest. Now a junior at California State University, Northridge, he studies with Dr. Wendy Richman and Dr. Lorenz Gamma. He was awarded the 2023 Outstanding Freshman Award by CSUN’s full-time faculty.
Nic is a member of the California Young Artists Symphony and CSUN Symphony, and has performed with the Pasadena Symphony, Idyllwild Arts Academy Orchestra, Eastern Sierra Symphony, Tonality, Moorpark Symphony, and Grammy-winning artists Serj Tankian and Adrian Younge. He has participated in the Borromeo Music Festival (2024) and Prague Summer Nights Festival (2025), and received masterclasses from Travis Maril, Daphne Gerling, Juan Miguel Hernandez, Xi Chen, Brightwork Ensemble, and Paradise Winds.

The San Gabriel Valley Symphony is a professional orchestra created by working musicians and local leaders to reflect and serve the San Gabriel Valley—focusing on community engagement and social impact. Our mission is to show the next generation in the SGV that a career in the arts is not only possible, but capable of creating real change in their communities and beyond.
