Larry Livingston is a distinguished conductor, educator, and administrator known for his dynamic leadership in music and his inspiring work as a motivational speaker. As the founding Music Director of the Illinois Chamber Orchestra, he has conducted renowned ensembles, including the Houston Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s Green Umbrella Series, and numerous orchestras across Europe, Australia, and the U.S. His performances have been met with critical acclaim, often described as electrifying and deeply engaging. A dedicated music educator, Livingston has held leadership roles at prestigious institutions such as the New England Conservatory, Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music, and the USC Thornton School of Music, where he served as Dean from 1986 to 2002. During his tenure, he secured a naming gift for the school, raised over $100 million, and currently chairs the Conducting Department. His extensive work with youth and professional orchestras, including Music for All’s National Honors Orchestra and numerous all-state ensembles, has made him a highly sought-after conductor and clinician.Beyond conducting, Livingston is a nationally recognized motivational speaker, inspiring business and education leaders with his engaging presentations.
