
Amy J. Wong (she/her/hers) is a lifelong San Gabriel Valley resident dedicated to advancing environmental and social justice, with more than a decade of experience leading community initiatives across the region.
She is the founder of Matilija Collective, a community library and creative space centering BIPOC stories and power-building in the San Gabriel Valley. Named after the native matilija poppy, the Collective’s mission is to celebrate the diversity of the San Gabriel Valley by uplifting community stories and fostering multiracial solidarity. Amy also works to protect public health and the environment as a Board Consultant for the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
Previously, she worked as a Program Director at Active San Gabriel Valley, leading community engagement programs for climate projects in historically underserved communities. Amy has also served as a Planning Commissioner for the City of El Monte, a Delegate for the CA Democratic Party (Assembly District 49), and a Young Leaders Council Member for the National Parks Conservation Association. Amy holds a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley.

The San Gabriel Valley Symphony, a program of Arts Bridging The Gap, exists to educate and inspire new audiences through the performing arts. Through world-class performances, collaboration with community stakeholders, and authentic storytelling, we connect audiences to live performance as a pillar of community celebration rooted in the San Gabriel Valley and beyond.
