Milton Salazar is a First-Generation Mexican-American freelance percussionist and educator working in Southern California. He has worked with many ensembles, including Pacific Symphony, American Ballet Theatre, Long Beach Symphony, Orchestra Santa Monica, and American Youth Symphony, and he has experience in many different genres of music, including orchestral, opera, musical theatre, jazz, and experimental and improvisatory music.
Milton is an instructor at OC Music and Dance in Irvine, California, where he teaches private lessons in orchestral percussion and drumset. His students have gone on to perform with the Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles, All-State Honor bands, and school-district honor bands. Milton also coaches percussion at YOLA at HOLA in Downtown Los Angeles where he works primarily with Hispanic and Latinx students in grades 4-12.When not playing, Milton enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and spending time with his partner Claire, and their cat who is white with black spots (and looks like a cow), Pippin.

Our mission is to show the next generation in the SGV that a career in the arts is not only possible, but capable of creating real change in their communities and beyond.
