
Violinist Kelly Tsai, born in California, is currently pursuing her Master of Music at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She received her Bachelor of Music from Boston University's College of Fine Arts, while studying under the guidance of Peter Zazofsky. Kelly started her violin studies at age six, leading recognition as first prize winner in competitions in Southern California such as the Southern Youth Music Festival at twelve.Tsai has performed in ensembles such as Boston University Orchestra, and served as assistant concertmaster at the University of California Irvine, (UCI) Symphony Orchestra, and principal for the Southern California Philharmonic. She has spent her summers with at the Philadelphia International Music Festival, Meadowmount School of Music, and appeared as a masterclass guest artist participant at the Berkshires and Aria Academies. She has done numerous performances as part of her musical studies at Boston University, on and off campus, and received masterclasses from guest artists such as Mark Kaplan, Andrés Cárdenes, and Timothy Chooi. Kelly is currently a part of the UCLA’s Gluck Fellows Program.This fall, Kelly will be pursuing her Graduate Diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music studying under Olga Kaler.
