Jasmine Kim is a freelance violinist and self-started music entrepreneur. Jasmine performs in a variety of settings and is a teacher and coach to students of all ages. Based in Orange County, Jasmine plays primarily throughout Los Angeles and OC areas, but regularly performs out of state. Jasmine received her Bachelor’s in Music Performance at the Bob Cole Conservatory in California State University, Long Beach in 2014, studying alongside pedagogue Linda Rose, and formerly studying with Elizabeth Baker, former director of the Taos Music School and Los Angeles Philharmonic First Violinist. Jasmine was also coached by Stacy Wetzel, current first violinist in the LA Phil.
Jasmine always had a love for orchestral/chamber settings ever since she played ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ in her middle school orchestra. Since then, Jasmine has been trained classically but also incorporates all styles of music (pop, world, rock, reggae, soul, religion, etc.) in her gig and freelance repertoires. Jasmine regularly plays in weddings, proposals, birthdays, corporate and special events, musicals, recordings, music videos and concerts. Jasmine has had incredible opportunities playing with Kris Bowers (Composer for Bridgerton, The Color Purple), Sarah Chang, Charles Yang (Grammy winner for group Time for Three), Tessa Lark, Tribal Seeds (2017 Artist of the Year at the San Diego Music Awards), Huong Tram (Winner of The Voice Vietnam), Paris by Night (American Choreography Awards), Earth, Wind and Fire (6 Grammys, RnR Hall of Fame) at the Wiltern, James Brown (RnB Hall of Fame), Urbana ’15 (Christian Missions Conference for over 15k attendees) and more. Jasmine has also been part of the American Youth Symphony where she’s played in a Taco Bell commercial, the opening night at the Grammy Museum, and multiple concerts at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Jasmine also offers weekly private lessons - teaching violin, viola, and beginner piano. Jasmine has coached many orchestras in the Long Beach, Saddleback, and Los Angeles School Districts. She currently coaches at Marshall Academy of the Arts and Millikan High School. Her students have achieved level 10 certifications for MTAC, concertmaster and principal positions in their orchestras, and opportunities at Carnegie Hall, SCSBOA Solo and Ensemble Festivals, and more. Currently in her 10th year of teaching, she enjoys teaching students of all ages around Los Angeles and Orange County.
