Albert Lu is a dynamic community leader, arts advocate, and public affairs specialist dedicated to enriching cultural life and civic engagement throughout the San Gabriel Valley. As Co-Founder and Managing Director of the San Gabriel Valley Symphony, he has been instrumental in shaping the orchestra’s strategic vision, driving its growth, and forging impactful connections between the arts and the diverse communities it serves.

A proud San Gabriel Valley native, Albert has a deep-rooted passion for serving the region he calls home. His work is driven by a lifelong commitment to uplifting the communities around him and ensuring that local voices are represented in both cultural and civic spaces.

With a strong foundation in public affairs and external relations, Albert currently serves as an External Affairs Specialist at the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District. In this role, he leads strategic outreach initiatives, promotes sustainable water policy, and strengthens relationships between government agencies and local stakeholders. His expertise in public engagement and policy advocacy has positioned him as a trusted liaison across sectors.

Albert brings a unique ability to operate at the intersection of government, the arts, and community engagement. His dedication to public service is further reflected in his civic roles, including serving as a Transportation Commissioner for the City of Alhambra, where he advises on critical transit and infrastructure issues. He is also an active member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses, currently serving on the Music Committee, which oversees operations for all participating marching bands in the 2026 Rose Parade, and he is responsible for spearheading recruitment for the 2027 Rose Parade.

A passionate champion for cultural equity, Albert co-founded the San Gabriel Valley Arts Initiative with Alex Deng to expand access to the arts and amplify underrepresented voices across the region. Through his leadership of the San Gabriel Valley Symphony and his advocacy efforts, Albert is committed to building inclusive, thriving communities where the arts serve as both a mirror and a bridge.
