Casey Lipka is a bassist, vocalist, and composer based in Los Angeles, CA. Known for her genre-expansive sound and collaborative spirit, she released her debut solo album Show Up in 2023 and will follow it with a second album in Spring 2026.A dynamic musical force, Casey Lipka was the catalyst behind the formation of the folk trio Dear Darling—highlights include multiple album releases, international touring, a performance on NPR’s Mountain Stage, and winning Cayamo Soundcheck and Jam in the Van competitions. She was also a founding member of Cave Women, a band whose music defied categorization. As a bassist, she toured with the acclaimed rock band CAKE, and has composed music for ballet companies and museum installations. Her projects range from fronting an 18-piece Motown orchestra celebrating the music of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, to leading bold new initiatives that center community and creativity.Committed to uplifting women and nonbinary musicians, Lipka received an Innovation Grant to create a collaborative music series highlighting the lived experiences of women and nonbinary musicians, a Play-In ACMP Grant to host a gathering that centered women and nonbinary double bassists in Los Angeles, and ARC’s Professional Development Grant to support her continued growth as a creative leader.Currently focused on writing and recording new music, Lipka’s artistic ethos is rooted in authenticity and exploration. “I just want to spark a conversation,” she says. Her sound lives at the intersection of folk, jazz, and pop — mainly, she says, it’s about reaching people.
