Zhan Lijun is a highly accomplished erhu performer recognized at the national level in China. She has served as principal and soloist with the China National Orchestra of Ethnic Music.
She began her music training at the Central Conservatory of Music’s Elementary School in 1988 and continued at its Middle School in 1991. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in 2001, studying under Professors Nie Jingyu and Yan Jiemin. During her studies, she received multiple scholarships and presented her own solo recital.
In 2000, she won the Excellence Award at the Taipei National Instrument Concerto Competition and served as principal for the China Youth National Orchestra of Traditional Instruments.
She joined the China National Orchestra of Ethnic Music in 2001, frequently performing as a soloist and principal in major concerts. Her honors include the Silver Prize in the Professional Division of the 28th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival Silk and Bamboo Invitational Competition, the Excellence Award at the 8th China Music Golden Bell Awards, and the Outstanding Performance Award from the Ministry of Culture for exemplary national art troupe productions. She has also been invited as guest principal with the Beijing National Orchestra. In 2021, she joined the China Conservatory of Music Ethnic Orchestra as principal.
