Christopher Sterling is an emerging double bassist and conductor active in the Orange County and Los Angeles area. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Double Bass Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach, and is returning to pursue a Master’s degree in conducting under the mentorship of Johannes Müller Stosch. He has furthered his studies by attending several conducting workshops, working with esteemed pedagogues, including Kenneth Kiesler and Edward Dolbashian.
In addition to his work as a performer and educator, Christopher is the founder of the Long Beach Summer Orchestra, a program that provides local collegiate musicians with meaningful performance opportunities during the summer months. The orchestra allows young musicians to remain actively engaged in ensemble playing without the financial burden of costly summer festivals or extensive travel, while fostering professional development, collaboration, and a strong sense of community among participants. Dedicated to both performance and education, he continues to cultivate his artistry on the podium, in the studio, and as a performer.
