Originally from Kolkata, India, Shireen Ghosh is a music composer, producer, and sound designer based in Los Angeles, California. She currently serves as a composer’s assistant to Austin Wintory (Journey, Stray Gods, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate) and has also collaborated with Tom Howe (Ted Lasso), Mac Quayle (Mr. Robot, American Horror Story), Inon Zur (Dragon Age, Fallout), Todd Haberman (9-1-1: Lone Star), Michael Levine (Cold Case, The Lost Pirate Kingdom), and Ian Nickus (Friends, Power Rangers: Ninja Storm, Naruto). Beyond composition, she works as a live sound engineer at the First Baptist Church of Glendale and manages A/V production for ensembles such as the UCLA Game Music Ensemble and UCLA Early Music Ensemble.
Drawing from a wide range of influences—from Bengali folk and post-rock to musical theater, metal, and ambient electronics—her work explores the space between handcrafted organic textures and electronic experimentation. Passionate about animation and cross-disciplinary art, she has collaborated with filmmakers from Columbia, St. Xavier’s College Kolkata, Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, and Whistling Woods International.
As a producer, she has been active in India’s independent music scene, founding the Sylheti-English folk-fusion band Whale in the Pond and collaborating with artists such as Rivu, Deep Phoenix, Bidishah, Parekh & Singh, and The Jhansi Way. Her technical pursuits include sample-library design—contributing to video-game projects and releasing DIY virtual instruments on Pianobook.
An experienced educator, she has directed choirs, taught piano, and co-written a musical adaptation of Vikram Seth’s The Elephant and the Tragopan for Hummingbird School in Assam. She has also worked with programs such as Slumjam, Seagull Foundation’s Peaceworks, and Responsible Charity to bring music education to underprivileged communities. Shireen earned her MFA in Music Composition for the Screen from Columbia College Chicago, where she served as a teaching assistant and interned at Area 44 Music.
